What to do in Emergency Events Lesson


On Friday, May 25th, the Room 1 students were visited by Chris Duggan from the Christchurch City Council, Education Group. Chris showed us the different types of Civil Defence emergency events that could occur such as: Tsunamis, pandemics, biohazards, earthquakes, storms and floods. Then he showed us using activities how to stay safe and stay informed. Some of the activities included having five disasters to choose from, and a list of possible actions (we then had to choose which action would help most with which disaster), matching disasters with their descriptions, then choosing the top five that occur most frequently, showing us his emergency kit and a make a plan sheet we can fill in at home. This taught us lots about natural disasters and how we can help and create plans to stay safe in these events. It was a really informative lesson and we were very grateful for learning how to be safe in an emergency.                                  By Hayley

    I like this post it is very neat. I love how you have put the blurb about what you have done. I like the photo of all of you guys and "Stan's got a plan". Maybe you could get a photo of the emergency equipment.
