Holy Spirit Display

On Tuesday we helped Hannah Williams-Blakey make a Holy Spirit sculpture in the library to coincide with Pentecost on Sunday. Hannah works in a library in town and organises craft groups for kids of all ages. We started by cutting and gluing together some paper doves that everyone in the school made during buddy prayers last week. Then we cut out some triangles to represent the flames of the Holy Spirit. Once we cut them out Hannah stapled them to the wall to form flames, while she was doing that we pinned the doves to the wall. It is a inspirational sculpture and we feel if you see it you will be touched by the Holy Spirit. Hopefully you can come and see it tomorrow.

Miriama Kamo

Miriama Kamo

On Tuesday 8th May, Miriama Kamo came to NBC to talk to the juniors (year 1-3) and

Intermediate children (Year 7 & 8) about her book The Stolen Stars Of Matariki 

Which is due to be released in May this year. She also spoke about her journalism

career as a radio announcer and producer at National Radio, and then her work

at TVNZ.

Hayley introduced herself with her Mihi and Miriama then introduced

herself in Te reo as well. After that she told us a little bit about what she has done in her

career. We had the opportunity to ask questions such ‘Who inspired you in your

life?’. She answered our questions and told us about her time at NBC. Overall her

talk was very inspiring to all of us and we were grateful for her visit.

St. John Visit

Today in Room 1 we were lucky enough to have Paula from St. Johns come and teach us some first aid and CPR. We learned about the DRSABC(D) acronym, about when and how to help in an emergency, and two tunes we can sing to make sure we're giving CPR at the right speed!

Hello I’m Bob and I’m a builder,

I believe I should be chosen for this role for the following reasons. I love to fix things and find solutions, fixing relationships is one of my top priorities and it is really needed as a monitor. I have a kind heart, you need a kind heart to care for the younger children at NBC. I have a growth mindset, and I persist in resolving problems.
