Mr Mark Madden from Manaiakalani comes to Room 1 every Wednesday from 10.00am-10.50am (and Room 4 from 9-9.50am) to teach us more about the Manaiakalani model of ‘Learn, Create, Share’.
This week when he came in he taught us about passwords, good ones and bad ones. An example of a bad password is, (your name)123 or 123456 or a birthday. He taught us how to make a good password, like taking the first letters of your favourite quotes or songs and changing some of the letters into different symbols. One of my ideas was, ?MniG? (?My name is Grace?).
What are you going to do to make your passwords safe?

Hi room 1 NBC!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Heidi, and I am a year 7, at Parkview school. I thought that ?MniG? Was a very good example, and easy to remember. Is that your real password though? And if it is, now, anyone can see it! Also, maybe you should try to talk about what the Manaiakalani, is about, because some people looking at your blog, may not understand what it is.
If you would like to see my blog then go to https://pvsheidih.blogspot.com/

ReplyDeleteI really like that you were learning about how to keep your passwords safe, a lot of people don’t know how. This made me think of when I watched a youtube video at home about how to keep your password safe and secure, they suggested to make them full with symbols and such. Maybe some more students could put their opinions on the blog as well, that would be fascinating. Anyway if you guys want, you can have a look at my blog at, https://leah1218.blogspot.co.nz/ Sincerely, Leah from Parkview School.
Kia Ora Grace. I like your idea for a password, it’d be pretty hard to guess that! Did you know Mark comes to visit us here too? He hasn’t taught us about passwords yet. How did you come up with it? Do you have any other examples of passwords?

ReplyDeleteMy name is Jorja from Parkview Primary School.
I like the way you said a bad example to use as a password is your name 123, 123456 or your birthday. You brought me back to when I was first creating an account, with a appropriate password. Next time you could put some more good examples using numbers and letters.
Thanks heaps for reminding me of what is a good password. Kind regards Jorja from Parkview Primary school.

Hello Room 1 NBC
My name is Ella from Awahono School I think this is a very interesting thing to learn about. I would have never thought about a good password or a bad password. It's a great way to keep people off your account by putting in a password that no body would ever guess. I would love to learn more about this topic. I though of a password idea, you could put your favourite show. Shortly600 the two letters of my last name the start of my favourite show and the number of episodes my show has.
Kind Re guards

ReplyDeleteThis is amazing because not many schools get to do this.
Every second Friday we go to a high-school and do activities.
